Active School
We aspire to be an active school because being active helps every child to become a successful learner for life. Our playtime resources called LTOP (Learning Through Outside Play) encourage the children to be active at playtimes and lunchtimes, including a quiet zone for reading and writing. Our friends from Active8 helped to keep our playtimes active with a variety of daily sports activities for all.
We encourage the children to be active in as many ways as possible, such as travelling to school on foot or by cycling/scootering. Children in Year R were certainly very active throughout the year with their outdoor learning, their beach day and their balance bikes. We like to be active outdoors, but we also like the children to be active in the classroom, through activities such as “Imoves.” As an active school, we offer parents of children in Years R-2 the opportunity to take part in BURSTs, a website that encourages children to exercise and rewards them with badges and certificates. Our Year 6 children really enjoyed their active residential visit to the Chidham Sailing Centre.
